Advice for Newcomers

New at GEC20

First-time GENI attendees are encouraged to: The material covered on the Newcomer Day is a pre-requisite for all tutorials in the remainder of the conference. If you wish to participate in these tutorials but are unable to attend the Newcomers Day, you should do the following self-guided tutorials before the GEC: Please don’t hesitate to email help@geni.net if you have any questions.
  1. A Newcomer and Travel Grantee Day for those with little or no exposure to experimentation with GENI. These sessions are recommended for anybody wanting to gain a basic understanding of experimentation using GENI. These sessions (or equivalent experience) are a pre-requisite for all tutorials in the remainder of the conference.
  2. Demo lightning talks - On Sunday morning after breakfast, select demo presenters will have the opportunity to do lightning talks about their demos so Demo Session attendees can prioritize their time.
  3. ExoGENI and InstaGENI Rack Administration sessions - These Monday sessions allow rack admins and rack teams to share their experiences operating GENI racks and ask questions of the rack development teams.
  4. An Intro to GENI Architecture talk on Tuesday will provide an overview of the GENI software and network architecture.
  5. Tutorial theme. The tutorial theme for GEC20 is "Custom Routing Protocols". Tutorials marked in bold cover different techniques for implementing custom routing protocols in GENI.
