ProtoGENI Demo at GEC#7

Reported by: ricci@cs.utah.edu Owned by: NIDHI
Priority: major Milestone: PGTools: S2.d Demonstration
Component: GPO Version: SPIRAL2
Keywords: GEC7 Cc:
Dependencies:

Description

  1. Brief demo description (A few sentences suitable for a GEC7 attendee information page)

We will be demonstrating creating slices on the ProtoGENI federation using the Emulab interface. This demo will involve using the Emulab web interface and GUI to create a slice that spans multiple aggregates, using the ProtoGENI APIs on the back end to reserve resources. This will include an initial set of the Emulab experimenter tools 'ported' to GENI.

  1. List of equipment that will need AC connections (e.g. laptop, switch hardware prototype, monitor).

One laptop (plus projector supplied by the GPO)

  1. Number of wired network connections (include required bandwidth if significant)

One, no special bandwidth requirements (I am assuming you are providing the cable)

  1. Number of wireless network connections (include required bandwidth if significant)

None

  1. Projector (y/n) Monitor (y/n, specify VGA or DVI) (Bring your own projectors if feasible)

One projector/screen. DVI would be nice, VGA is fine. (I am assuming you are providing the video cable.)

  1. Number of posters

One

  1. Number of static addresses needed (if any)

One stable address is fine - as long as I can reasonably expect it won't be changed during the demo session, I don't need anything 'reserved'.

  1. Description of any special requests (e.g. VLANS to NLR or I2 backbone)

Want to know ahead of time if demo session is at an I2-connected campus. (Specifically, can route to I2's special address space that is only advertised to I2 member institutions). If session is on Duke campus, this is probably sufficient.

Thanks for sending us the demo request. We are making arrangements for your demo and will get back to you soon.

Thanks, GPO

The demo session on 2/16 will be on the Duke campus.

Plenary demos that may occur during the rest of the GEC will be at the hotel, where only commercial Internet access will be available. Cluster meetings are at the hotel as well.

If you would like to upload your demo slides/images/poster or any other relevant document then please go to http://groups.geni.net/geni/wiki/GEC7Demos and attach your files. This would be helpful for our records as well as for people who could not attend the conference.

Once we have them, we plan to release a GEC7 Demo Summary document containing all the information about your demo.

Thanks, GPO
