Demo Title: GENI Enabling an Ecological Science Community

One-sentence layman's description: This demonstration shows the use of the GENI WiMAX infrastructure at an ecological research facility.

Who should see this demo? Open to all.

Demo description paragraph(s): Live demonstration showing the monitoring tools, data collection mechanisms, and infrastructure.

List of equipment that will need AC connections (e.g. laptop, switch, monitor):

  1. Laptop AC Conection

Total number of wired network connections (sum standard IP and VLAN connections): 1 wired connection

Number of wired layer 2 VLANs (if any): 0

Number of wireless network connections (include required bandwidth if significant): 1 wireless connection

Number of static addresses needed (if any): 0

Monitor (specify number, standard/large, and VGA/DVI): 1 monitor, HDMI Specify resolution only if your software has resolution restrictions.

Number of posters (max size poster boards are 30" x 40"): 1 poster

Special requests: None.

Derek, Is it possible to get at least the expected title for the new demo? need to print signs with the proper demo title by Friday

Summary: GENI Enabling an Ecological Science CommunityTransit-analytics: Tracking Transit Passengers through Wireless Monitoring

Description: We present a transit passenger monitoring system by using regular WiFi card. The system monitors the packet transmissions from and to passenger's smartphone and/or tablet etc. The system can be used for passenger counting. It can monitor the number of passengers get on/off at each bus stops and provide to the bus company for bus scheduling and route planning. It can also monitor the number of people on street and identify the hot spots in the city.
