#1430 fixed A Virtual Crisis Information Sharing and Situational Awareness Platform for Collaborative Disaster Response peter.stickney@bbn.com raju@louisiana.edu
Description

One-sentence layman's description:

This demo is a description of a new deployable emergency-response network for the state of Louisiana, and a live view of its EOC command system.

Who should see this demo?

Attendees interested in optimizing situational awareness during emergency response, from field operations to EOC activities, should see this demo.

Demo description paragraph(s):

In the hours after a disaster, the single most important requirement for all emergency support functions is maintaining communications. A desirable infrastructure would allow field operators to stream Situational Awareness data, in real-time, back to the main Emergency Operations Center.

This demo describes such an infrastructure, which leverages SDN for resilience across degraded network segments, and it also shows a new Incident Command System which provides dashboard features within the EOC.

List of equipment that will need AC connections (e.g. laptop, switch, monitor):

One (1) tablet, Two (2) laptops, One (1) local gateway device, One (1) wifi router, Three (3) switches.

Total number of wired network connections (sum standard IP and VLAN connections):

Two (2) wired IP connections, Zero (0) VLAN connections.

Number of wired layer 2 VLANs (if any):

Zero (0)

Number of wireless network connections (include required bandwidth if significant):

Two (2) wifi connections, typical bandwidth.

Number of static addresses needed (if any):

Zero (0).

Monitor (y/n, specify VGA or DVI):

No monitor needed.

Number of posters (max size poster boards are 30" x 40"):

Two (2) 30"x20" posters.

Special requests:

None.

#1429 invalid Tele-microscopy for Education peter.stickney@bbn.com hdempsey@bbn.com
Description

One-sentence layman's description:

We present high definition images of marine microorganisms streaming live from a remote controlled microscope at USC in Los Angeles for use in collaborative STEM education, starting with STEM School Chattanooga.

Who should see this demo?

Attendees interested in applications of networks for science education, biology, health, distance education, and microscopic phenomena.

Demo description paragraph(s): “Elevator speech” description that identifies (a) what you are demonstrating and (b) why it is important. This description may be used for advance publicity and to help attendees identify the demonstrations they wish to see.

List of equipment that will need AC connections (e.g. laptop, switch, monitor): Just put in the number of connections needed if your demo description already lists equipment.

Total number of wired network connections (sum standard IP and VLAN connections):

Number of wired layer 2 VLANs (if any): Specify VLAN number, if known, approximate bandwidth, and whether tagged or untagged.

Ali Sydney is coordinating VLANs between USC and UTC. Estimated bandwidth is 800 Mbps, per USIgnite.

Number of wireless network connections (include required bandwidth if significant):

Number of static addresses needed (if any):

Monitor (y/n, specify VGA or DVI):

1 monitor

Specify resolution only if your software has resolution restrictions.

Number of posters (max size poster boards are 30" x 40"):

1 poster

Special requests: Include any specific network connectivity needs (e.g. VLANs to a particular GENI location, projects you'd like to be near, etc.)

Requirements estimated for PI Richard Weinberg, based on input from USIgnite. Please email corrections to hdempsey@bbn.com
