Period: August 12, 2011 - November 18, 2011

I. Major accomplishments

We completed a report on the workshop on Attribution in GENI held at GEC 11.

We presented two papers, one on resilience (intended to raise questions and challenge current notions of resilience; it was accepted by and printed at the New Security Paradigms Workshop) and one on attribution requirements for the next generation Internet.

A. Milestones achieved

(Completed) Attrib: S3.a, report begun; will be completed after workshop is held (see S3.c below)
(Completed) Attrib: S3.b, workshop held at GEC11; report completed
(Completed) Attrib: S3.c, Attribution in GENI report completed

B. Deliverables made

* Workshop report completed (see GENI Wiki: Report on Workshop on Attribution at GEC 11.pdf)
* Report on attribution in GENI completed (see GENI Wiki: attributioningeni-2.pdf)

II. Description of work performed during last quarter

A. Activities and findings

We completed the two reports and presented two papers during this time period.

Matt Bishop collaborated with non-GENI colleagues on a paper discussing resilience ("Resilience is More than Availability"), which is relevant to the Attribution in GENI project because it studies how to measure resilience, and indeed what resilience is. Clearly, any attribution framework must be resilient in a number of ways, and this paper examines what that might mean.

Jeffrey Hunker presented our paper highlighting attribution requirements for future Internet testbeds, and future Internets at the 2011 IEEE International Conference on Technologies for Homeland Security in Boston, MA.
